Arkansas baseball picked up an oral commitment from one of the nation’s best prospects last week. Third baseman/pitcher Justin O’Connor of Muncie, Ind., Cowan said the Hogs worked hard to get him to Fayetteville.

Arkansas baseball coach Dave Van Horn and staff signed 12 prospects during the early signing period in November and is expected to sign a few more during the regular singing period that runs until August 1.

Arkansas’ 2008 baseball recruiting class continues to receive high marks. A few weeks ago, Baseball News rated the Hog’s class No.4 in the country. Last Friday, Baseball America said Arkansas’ class was No. 8 in the nation.

The chance that one of the top athletes in Razorback baseball coach Dave Van Horn's recruiting class will play for the Hogs increased when third baseman/pitcher Zack Cox was selected much lower in the Major League Baseball Draft than expected.
