About

Richard Davenport is a life-long college sports fan who has always had a passion for recruiting. As a young boy — long before recruiting became a craze it is now — he would study Arkansas media guides for information on the incoming freshman classes.
His interest evolved into a career when he began writing reports on Arkansas recruits for the Razorback fan site Hogville.net. Soon he had the opportunity to freelance for other publications covering college recruiting.
In August 2007, Richard was hired by the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette and now writes a recruiting column that appears every Tuesday and Friday. Richard has found one of the most enjoyable aspects of the job is getting to know the recruits and their families. He has also been impressed by how hard the high school coaches in Arkansas work to develop and promote their players.
Richard lives in Maumelle with his wife, Megan, and their dog, Gateway. Maybe one of these days he’ll tell us his time in the 40.
