November 6, 2009 – 5:06 pm

Little Rock Christian TE Dakota Mosley will make his college decision Dec. 1.

Mosley, 6-4 1/2, 250, 4.8 has scholarship offers to Auburn, Florida State, Tennessee, La. Tech and Tulsa.  He plans to take official visits to Florida State, Ohio State and Auburn.

Mosley and Michael Dyer will make an official visit for the Auburn-Alabama game Nov. 27.

  1. Geee. I wonder who he will commit to….Hmmmmm

He should of just commited today with his meal ticket, Dyer, and gotten it over with.

  2. That’s not fair. Arkansas could have offered Dyer, Mosley, and their head coach a package deal but we are beyond the Houston Nutt era. Yet, I sincerely hate to lose that type of talent from a pure football prospective. Maybe Dyer and Mosley will get homesick and transfer back to Arkansas. It’s has happened before with some of the states’ better talent…….

    By Rickey Boyd on Nov 6, 2009 @ 7:06pm

  3. I believe Dyer was afraid he wouldn’t be able to play right away and didn’t want to be pressed. Oh well, we’ll see who has the last laugh overall.

    By Butch on Nov 6, 2009 @ 7:36pm

  4. Mosley, you can’t be serious.

    By Mike on Nov 6, 2009 @ 7:39pm

  5. Meal ticket? ESPN has him rated the #13 TE in the country. He’s been invited to play in the Under Armor All-American game. He’s his own meal ticket.

    By MRPRFCT on Nov 6, 2009 @ 7:47pm

  6. I do think it would be hilarious if he did commit elsewhere after Dyer hitched his wagon to him. If they do end up on the same team, what’s going to happen when one receives playing time and the other doesn’t? I don’t know…it sounds like a lot of “Springdale” type drama to me. These kids think that college is an extension of high school where they’ll wield the same amount of power. I hope Auburn can handle the Divas, and I’m glad that we will not be dealing with that.

  7. i’m interested to see if he even has commitable offers to these places

  8. You guys are ridiculous.

    By MRPRFCT on Nov 7, 2009 @ 7:38am

  9. Mosley won’t end up at Arkansas unless teams like Southwest Tulsa or Northeast Chicago or Southeast Fort Smith starts recruiting him. Those are the type of teams we recruit hard against.

    By hogice on Nov 7, 2009 @ 8:22am

  10. Anybody know his stat? From what I’ve heard he doesn’t catch more than one or two balls a game for a dozen or so yards. Why in heck is he rated so high as a TE, I wonder…

    By Jim on Nov 7, 2009 @ 8:44am

  11. It’s a well known fact that any school who wanted Dyer had to take Mosley along with him.

This Mosley Dec. 1 committment is a smoke screen.

It’s going to be interesting to see if Dyer thinks Malzahn is using Mosley enough or fairly. I can just see it now….Mosley complains to Dyer, then Dyer complains to Malzahn about Mosley’s playing time.

  12. Lay off the kid…. NSD is a long way away… Quit acting like the High School kid you are trashing.

By Scott in Hot Springs on Nov 7, 2009 @ 10:59am

  13. I wonder why the Under Armor All-American game invited Mosely to participate? I wonder why he’s rated the #13 TE in the country by ESPN? Maybe because he’s actually talented. I know he caught a long ball last night. He also blocked well and played really well on defense.

    By MRPRFCT on Nov 7, 2009 @ 11:21am

  14. Guys it has been very obvious to me that Petrino and staff have a “plan” for this team. They recruit specific types of players that fit this plan. If Petrino seen something in Dyer and Mosley that he didn’t like, I trust his judgement. They are a lot more familiar with these players than ANY of us on here are. Why can’t we just support our coaching staff and let them do the recruiting? We were very happy with what they did the last two years. I also trust our coaching staff to evaluate talent that fits our program much more than Scout, Rivals, or ESPN. I don’t care what these sites “rate” a player. I trust our staff! That’s the bottom line! If we are getting the players that the coaches want I am HAPPY!

  15. I am sure Mosley will joining dyer at Auburn.

    By razorhog on Nov 7, 2009 @ 3:53pm

  16. MRPRFCT, did you know that ESPN’s chief recruiting specialist Tom Luigibill (sp?) is an Athens, AL native as well as a HUGE Auburn fan. I think that might have a little bit to do with why he has such a better ranking on ESPN. You are kidding yourself if you think Mosley is the 13th best TE in the nation. He isn’t even the best TE in Arkansas. 2011 Arkansas ccommit Demtrius Dean is better as well as Garret Eukman. Only ESPN thinks different. Hmmmmm

    By HogInBama on Nov 7, 2009 @ 5:30pm

  17. Well said Ethan…I think it is time to move on also…we had a great game today…although I must say I am getting a little old to have(this kind of stress on my poor lil heart (I will be sixty in dec) LOL

By hog fan in florida on Nov 7, 2009 @ 6:28pm

  18. Have you seen him play? Tom Lemming has him highly rated as well. What’s your conspiracy theory for that?

    By MRPRFCT on Nov 7, 2009 @ 6:47pm

  19. Lets see, is it Auburn, Arkansas State or UCA? Hmmm…maybe MRP’s favorite, Old Miss. Who’s gonna tuck Dyer in and make sure he makes curfew if he doesn’t go to Auburn? And who’s gonna tag along with Uncle the handler?

    By Ima Hawg on Nov 7, 2009 @ 7:01pm

  20. Arkansas Razorbacks are my favorite team.

    By MRPRFCT on Nov 7, 2009 @ 7:05pm

  21. Yeah right. All you do is criticize and complain about the Hawgs.

    By Ima Hawg on Nov 7, 2009 @ 7:08pm

  22. I’m sick of Parker Mack giving us the run around. He’s not a true hog fan. If he were he’d already commit to us. He’s just stringing us along and being a primadonna. I wonder who his handlers are steering him towards. He sure is drawing his recruiting out. What a thug.

    By MRPRFCT on Nov 7, 2009 @ 7:09pm

  23. Ima Hawg, you’re a liar. I’m glad you feel it necessary to type my name in nearly every post. It’s flattering, but try to keep your subject about the Hogs. Can you do that? I bet it’s hard since you think about me all the time.

    By MRPRFCT on Nov 7, 2009 @ 7:11pm

  24. MEPRFT: From the information I have seen on Mack he wants to take some visits to other schools to make sure before he makes a decision, sounds reasonable. I can’t blame him since it is a huge decision. Moreover, he does not seem to be giving anyone a runaround and certainly does not act like he is a primadonna. Academics seem to be very important to him as well.

    By razorhog on Nov 7, 2009 @ 8:48pm

  25. from what I see about Parker Mack…academics are first…and thats ok…he seems to be a very smart person…maybe wanting to pursue to be a doctor…MD…I am not sure where that will lead him…does Arkansas have a medical school? I am not sure…and from the get go he has not led anyone on.

By hog fan in florida on Nov 7, 2009 @ 9:21pm

  26. Neither has Dyer.

    By MRPRFCT on Nov 7, 2009 @ 9:43pm

  27. I don’t see P. Mack posting videos of himself and his friends mocking the UofA. (”The A stands for Auburn”)

I don’t see P. Mack making it a point to drag his best friend smack dab in the middle of his own recruitment.

I don’t see P. Mack making it a point to insinuate publicly that “Petrino”, not Coach Petrino, needs to develope a better relationship with him.

Where’s the high character you contiueusly say he has?
Your asnine statements on that little issue must be a lot like Mosely’s ESPN ranking… OVER-RATED. (Kind of like Ole Miss was) Nothing you claim matches up with what one’s naked eye can see for itself, unless your insane.

    By GonzoHog on Nov 8, 2009 @ 4:47am

  28. Gonzohog…I don’t see anything wrong with having a best buddy like the Dyer/Mosely situation. I have not seen the video that others keep talking about…if that is a fact…then Dyer is low class in that respect. Look, we don’t necessarily need a running back this particular year. I would love to see another D D Jones type D limeman.
There has to be a reason why Petrino has not gone after Dyer and I will trust him on that. Mosely is obviously a good player..but then again…Petrino knows what he needs. On a sentimental note..I hope the Hogs offer Thamail Morgan a schollie for linebacker…like I said sentimental.

The schools that have offered would take Dakota.

  30. I do wish some of you guys would post as if the young man you’re posting about was your own kid. Sensible discussion is fine but taking shots at a 17-18 year old kid is a bit much. Some of the comments on the recruits never make it to the board and I try to monitor the comments but can’t always do that.

Recruits and their parents do read message boards and this blog. I did have one parent of a recruit say he was impressed with many of the comments in the Dyer commitment post. You guys expressed disappointment but also were respectful of his decision.

    By Richard Davenport on Nov 8, 2009 @ 10:44am

  31. Now that I have had a moment to think about Dyer committing to Auburn, I get quite puzzled. Wouldn’t Ole Miss have been a better choice? HDN has a recent rep for getting his backs first round draft picks. Witness D-Mac and Felix. Hillis has done well in Denver. Cobbs was around for awhile, but never made it big. None the less, that is a large number of backs to get into the No Fun League in such a short time.

    By Bigfoot on Nov 8, 2009 @ 11:52am

  32. Dyer said it was because of the relationship he has with Malzahn and the rest of the Auburn coaching staff. We need to just take him at his word and let it go.

I am really disappointed he won’t be a Hog. But I respect his right to make that decision. Good Luck Mr. Dyer

Now, about the game. It was as close to a complete game as anyone will get. 3 bad plays and 1 penalty … FOR 5 YDS ! That effort would have beat Texas, Florida or Alabama. Show your support and love !

    We’ve come full circle ! WPS ! ! ! Beat Troy ! :P

  33. Richard, I would somewhat echo your sentiment about the young players…also, the personal shots between the ones that post here need to simer down a bit….we are all by and in large HOG fans…calling each other liars is below this blog…let’s come together as Hog fans…and wish for the best.

No doubt. I’ve tried policing the comments the best I can but I can’t always do that. Please email me if you see any personal attacks and I’ll try and take care of it.

    By Richard Davenport on Nov 8, 2009 @ 1:42pm

  35. Richard, thank you for stepping up and monitoring this board as you do. With all that goes on here, it would be impossible to police all of the unkind things said about these high school kids. I come here for recruiting information and to get excited about the Hogs’ future, not to read about how much somebody dislikes a high school student that they don’t even know; my gosh, I expect better out of my 8th grade daughter! This isn’t the first time I’ve said it here, and I doubt that those to whom it applies will pay any attention, but I still feel better for saying it: some of you need to grow up and get a grip on reality!

As for Dyer, Mosley, and any other future Arkansas high school student-athletes: if they’ve got the talent, the desire, the necessary skill-set, and the character, I would love to see them play at the University of Arkansas. If they believe they can do better somewhere else, I will wish them all the best. I REFUSE to take their rejection of the Razorbacks’ program personally!

    By Wesman58 on Nov 8, 2009 @ 1:46pm

  36. R Davenport Comments from Nov. 8, 2009 @ 10:44am and 11:52am. Yea Richard! Thanks for the words of wisdom. I hope they are heeded. If we are to grow we will. We got over Keith Jackson going to Oklahoma. We got over Burns and Ziemba going to Auburn. If indeed Mike Dyer goes to Auburn, we will get over that too. After all, are they the begining and end of Razorback football? Sec football is tough, tough, tough. Give it time and see what will transpire. Agree or disagree with what happens in the future I will always bleed Razorback red! Go Hogs! Go Coach Petrino!

    By keeperhawg on Nov 8, 2009 @ 1:56pm

  37. Give Mosley a break! He is his on guy and will play some football for Auburn in time. He is a project kid and will RS and play as a JR. The interesting thought is will the Gus Bus still be at AU? I think not!

    By RAS on Nov 8, 2009 @ 2:47pm

  38. Gus isn’t going to get a great job offer for 2 to 3 years. He needs to prove he can win and put up big numbers in the SEC first.

We didn’t offer Mosley so what he wants to do doesn’t concern me. And it shouldn’t concern anyone else either. I don’t mean any ill will. We just need to focus on the ones we do want. Good Luck Mr. Mosley.

    Lets get positive here. :P :P :P

  39. Good post Ron!

We have the Rivals#22 TE in the nation committed, so I’m happy about that spot.
This class doesn’t really knock my socks off so far, but it’s a long way till NSD… CBP will sew up another good class for us.

  40. hey richard is ark recruiting wesleigh foster? What does he think of the hogs? Is he a good back?

By Im just saying on Nov 8, 2009 @ 10:00pm

  41. I thought that Auburn had offered Moseley. I would like to knoe if he will play another position other than TE. At 6′-4 and 250 or 260 lbs, he has the makings of a DT….And we need DTs.

I don’t know for fact but from the posts here, Moseley’s issue seems to be 40 speed. On one of the sites, he is listed as having 4.8 speed. Then in the summer camps, his best was supposedly 5.2. That is a huge difference. At 5.2, he probably would not be as effective as a TE as some others. But at 5.2, he could be very effective as a DT.

    By Bigfoot on Nov 9, 2009 @ 12:14am

  42. I remember during the spring there was an article on Mosley and he said he was hoping to improve his 40 time. I don’t think a guy can gain 50 lbs and not lose something. Also in HS he has been playing DE. Not DT. I believe Mosley could have a nice career as a TE, But we have what we want at that position. Also I would like to see us recruit a DT to play DT. A LB to play LB. and a DE to play DE. If they are within 25 lbs of where we need that would be even better ! IMHO

    Go Hogs !

By Ron in Germany on Nov 9, 2009 @ 1:49am

  43. From what I read, Uekman (spelling) grew up a Razorback fan.
LSU offered him first, but he waited for the Hogs to offer.
As far as the Mosely situation goes, it could just be that he wanted to look around for awhile and the coaching staff knew that.
Plus, his speed may have not been up to par, so the coaches might have wanted to wait and re-evaluate him throughout his Sr. season, epecially with a good TE already commited.
Any which way you look at it, I think the coaches had their reasons for not offering Mosely.
If that had something to do with Dyer losing interest in the UofA, then that would be puzzling to me, because if those were the actual reasons for the staff not offering Mosely, then it sounds pretty much like the norm to me.
Anyhow, there’s a very good chance niether one of these kids will play at the UofA, so let’s move on.
We really need some more depth at DT. Come on Bryan Jones!
