Morgan grateful for time with other players

November 6, 2009 – 6:00 am

Safety/linebacker Thamail Morgan, who attended the Arkansas-Eastern Michigan game, said the move from Newport to Cave City has allowed him to grow as a person.

“I wanted to get mature and wiser and that’s what I did by coming to the school.” Morgan said.

Morgan, 6-0, 211, 4.50 said in Tuesday’s recruiting column that he enjoyed meeting Shiloh Christian junior quarterback Kiehl Frazier. He also had the chance to talk to Alabama linebacker Martaze Jackson, receiver Marquel Wade and linebacker Montaque Mack of Andrew Jackson high school in Jacksonville, Florida.

“I enjoyed meeting the guys from Tallahassee and the Alabama kid,” Morgan said. “I hit it off with the Alabama kid. We exchanged numbers and played a game of pool.”

After the game, Morgan was able to talk with receivers Jarius Wright and Joe Adams along with linebacker Jerry Franklin.

“Some people have compared me to him and then able to meet someone that people compare me to is mind boggling,” Morgan said of Franklin. “He told me a few pointers he told me to keep your head up and stay straight and always be prepared for anything. He told me a few things about college. I enjoyed every moment that I spent with the guys.”

  2. Something in my heart tells me it would be a good thing to give this kid a scholarship. He has the talent…the heart…to be a good fit with the Razorbacks.

  3. Roger, I agree. I don’t know what he did wrong but people deserve a second chance. When they show they are willing to go the extra mile to show it then, Yes

  4. I know what he did wrong and he DEFINITELY deserves another chance. It would be terrible to see this kid lose his opportunity to pursue his dream because of something minor. I hope we offer him. It’s the right thing to do. And it don’t hurt that he’s a great player and really good character kid.

  6. I really want him to get an offer and become a Razorback. He has a great support system around him and it sounds like he is doing very well. I don’t know what he did, but it seems like it must have been something personal with the people in Newport. His smile and demeanor tell me that he has learned from this situation and his quotes and actions on and off the field since he has been in Cave City tell me he is a fine young man.

  8. There is a lineman up at Cave City that we have had an interest in. It would be nice to pick up both of them.
