Again with the weight room (prospects seem to really like it)

Linebacker Montaque Mack, who orally committed to Arkansas after his official visit last weekend, was like many other prospects in praising the Hogs’ weight program.

“The most impressive thing was the weight room,” Mack said. “And how all the players rally around each other and encourage each other in the weight room in order to achieve their goals and get their personal bests.”

Mack, 6-2, 190, 4.7 of Jacksonville, (Fla.) Andrew Jackson plans to grey shirt next fall and enrolled in January of 2011. He said Coach Bobby Petrino embraced his pledge.

“He told me to come in and work real hard and get into the rotation at linebacker,” Mack said. “He shook my hand and told me welcome to the family.”

Mack has been friends with receiver Marquel Wade, who also committed over the weekend, since the sixth grade. The chance to play college football with his close friend has Mack excited.

“It’s just awesome,” Mack said. “We talked about going to the same school but never thought we would get the opportunity. I wanted to be able to go with someone and I’ll be able to go with Marquel.”
