Good pickup more play makers for our offense now lets get some more help on THE defense so we can build that championship that we all want as hog fans. COACHES BUILD THERE TEAMS THERE WAY WE NEED TO BE STRONGER ON O LINE AND D LINE TO COMPETE FOR CHAPIONSHIPS. A GOOD D LINE MAKES YOUR SECONDDARY LOOK BETTER IN THE SEC WITH ALL SKILL PLAYERS YOU FACE WITH SPEED AND SIZE YOUR D LINE MUST PUT PRESSURE ON QB FOR US TO BE SUCCESSFUL NOW AND IN FUTURE AND A CHAMPIONSHIP WOULD COME TO ARKANSAS.

One of the Premier wide receivers in north Florida….great!!!
I still think we need some tall receivers also….but that is just my humble opinion. Welcome to the Hog Pen Wade

great pick up he has that it that some tall receivers may not have.

Easy on the caps folks. No need to shout anybody down on a message board. Everyone will be heard. Wade sounds like a Joe Adams sort of player from what I’ve read so it’s an exciting pickup. Like everyone else, I’m still waiting for those big D-Line boys to come on board.
By Jim on Nov 1, 2009 @ 10:51am
we have recruited defense very well in this class so far and we aren’t done
By Razorback56 on Nov 1, 2009 @ 11:16am
I agree with Jim … the CAPS aren’t really necessary, this kid does remind of Joe Adams.

Maybe for you the CAPS aren’t necessary but what about the hard of hearing?
By OKOFCOURSE on Nov 1, 2009 @ 1:21pm
OKOFCOURSE, a little louder please, I didn’t quite hear your question.
By RazorRandy on Nov 1, 2009 @ 1:42pm
some people are just keyboard challenged. not sure he meant it to be yelling. i work with some computer challenged folks and they do that all the time. maybe i’m wrong.
By Omahahog on Nov 1, 2009 @ 2:58pm
i stand corrected. I see he does that on other threads. just doesn’t pay to be a nice guy. lol
By Omahahog on Nov 1, 2009 @ 3:14pm
Meh, CAPS are annoyance universally; Most ppl don’t like them.
I’ve been here since Day1, and he’s the only poster to do that. It doesn’t take a lot of brains or time to depress thew Caps Lock key, then post as usual.
I think he does it intentionally. Call me a villain or whatnot, but it needs to stop.

Back to football…
Welcome to Arkansas, Marquel! We’re stoked to have you here. You gotta love how the team reloads now at the skill positions.
By Darsh on Nov 1, 2009 @ 7:35pm
really, why does it annoy you? its not like youre in a room and really have to listen to his volume. if its not vulgar language or rude why is it really a problem. some people on here spend way too much time looking for things to rip into others about instead of just enjoying the opinions of others. even if they differ from yours, so what, everyone has a right to their opinions but i notice many who are post and then get harassed by the mainstays on here dont bother to post again. and just because their opinions differ from yours doesnt make them wrong. lighten up, as a rule when people use caps in these threads that are not specifically directed at someone in particular they are responding to, it is for emphasis on a point they feel strongly about, not to shout someone else down, in which case they consider it emphasis and not shouting. i myself rarely post because i get tired of hateful responses directed at me because someone disagrees with my perspective. personally i enjoy reading the opinions on here, even those i disagree with. kind of boring life if you surround yourself with sycophants. i think the variety of opinions adds to the interest of the discussion.
By dpt on Nov 1, 2009 @ 7:51pm
What annoys me are initials like CAP, ppl, wps, etc. You sit there and try to figure out what symbols are supposed to stand for. I don’t really mind the opinions so much. Except for one notable exception because he loves being the kid on the playground that challenges everyone and gets whipped.

If I remember correctly, ED stated awhile back that he has bad eyes and trouble seeing what he is tying in small caps and therefore uses CAPS to help see what he is typing.

WOW (UPPER CASE) again. I didn’t state a thing about disagreeing with you. I was just being humorous about the posts above mine. You (one upper case, followed by two lower), had gone off on a rant. Please grow a sense of humor as you are not a Dennis Miller!

By RazorRandy on Nov 2, 2009 @ 2:43am
dpt,
I have never “ripped into others” – ever, on this site.
I also like the opins of others, yours included.
I think Ron, Mr.P, SAHF, Bigfoot, even Mr.Davenport himself, and many many others here who are “mainstays” like myself can tell you, I’m one of the friendliest posters here. I can’t recall one post of mine that was “hateful” to anyone else here. I’m actually one of the peace-keepers here. I’m an ex-cop, and came from a tough neighborhood, so I CAN be strong-armed and jack folks up if need be, but I find that approach usually just makes for more ire in most situations.
If my post about Elery’s CAPS was too harsh, then I apologize to you, him and to anyone else I need to[shrug], it wasn’t meant as an attack.
Again, I too like the multitude of differing opinions, everyone’s is welcomed.
And again, I think the Caps Lock button should be used sparingly… and that’s just my ‘opinion’.

Hey Ron, what up?
Everything going ok in Germany?
Wade sounds to me like good pickup. Very comparable to J. Adams and looks to be a little faster as well.
The way Coach Petrino likes to use WRs, it’s great that we can get at least 1 player every year of that caliber.
I think we’re up to 16 commits now if you count D. Orr, but i’m expecting that to change back to 15 before too long.
If we can still sign 5 more, I hope we concentrate on a couple of DTs, LBs and a Safety.
We really need to build some depth on defense.
By GonzoHog on Nov 2, 2009 @ 4:35am

Hey Gonzo, It’s all good here, except: I’m not there
I think Orr decommitted acording to Scout. He is upposed to make his decision (again) soon.
I think we will sign 24-25 this year. I just can’t see Petrino in his 3rd year of recruiting cutting back yet. My guess is there are some on the team who won’t return. In fact I would bet on that !
I hope wade has great hands. He’s gonna need em !

By Razorback56 on Nov 2, 2009 @ 6:00am
portie,
thanks for the polite response my apologies as well, and as for the caps, my response was based on the fact that i myself and many others use that as emphasis, not directed at anyone or to be shouting at anyone. maybe not you, but many of these posters go off on anyone who disagree with them and that is annoying. AND RANDY, I STICK BY MY OPINION U ARE AN A WIPE, YOUR RESPONSE WAS DIRECTED AT ME AS YOU MENTIONED ME DIRECTLY TO BEGIN THE REMARK AND YOU DIDNT MENTION THE OTER TWO RESPONSES YOU SEEM TO WANT TO REFERENCE NOW. as for the history, go check, i have never said anything hateful to anyone on this post but A WIPE RANDY, who saw fit to bad mouth me the very first time i ever posted on here, as he thinks we are going to lose recruits because (after either the georgia or bama game) i said the way petrino was (not) able to establish the running backs we were going to have trouble recruiting good ones. those are the facts, that and RANDY being an A WIPE, LOL
By dpt on Nov 2, 2009 @ 8:58am

I must say, I am the one who dropped the ball here… I guess I missed/overlooked SAHFs post a few below my long post; it explained about Elery typng in CAPS because of his poor vision.
It is:
“If I remember correctly, ED stated awhile back that he has bad eyes and trouble seeing what he is tying in small caps and therefore uses CAPS to help see what he is typing.”
This explains a lot, and I’ll not mention the CAPS issue anymore, LOL.

If you were a parent of a young man being recruited by Arkansas, what would you think of the state and institution if the most arduous fans posted some of the trash we have seen here. Instead of making the recruiting easier, it hust makes it a lot more difficult. Come on guys, clean up the act.
By Bigfoot on Nov 2, 2009 @ 7:09pm

ELERY,
You haven’t done anything wrong man. If anything, it was me who made too much of the CAPS situation in the first place.

By OKOFCOURSE on Nov 2, 2009 @ 7:49pm
You DO NOT need to have tall receivers. You need receivers that play hard and play fast with good hands. You need play makers. If he is getting in position to make plays, and he makes the plays when he gets his chance…thats all you need.
By D on Nov 2, 2009 @ 8:25pm
The taller receivers are better targets. They can reach out for the fade, streak patterns even when covered and bring the ball in. Look, a good big man is always better than a good little man. But that lousy big man can’t be compared to a good little man.
For years Arkansas made a living by having quick, almost unblockable Nose Guards. But when the other team wedge blocked our little guy, and used a big back, they converted 3rd and short to a new first down.
The replay of Saturday’s game was on ESPNU last night. I was trying to watch for 3rd down situations. The two that I recognized were 3-9 when Mallet converted for a TD, and 3-20 where Wilson overthrew for a TD. I had to turn it off and get my beauty rest.
We ought to make the 3rd and shorts, with Green, almost every time. I would expect conversion on more that 75%. 3-moderate, we should make maybe 50%. On 3-long, that has to fall off, maybe 20%. Deep in your own territory with 3-20, you have got to be conservative. Even a 30 INT sets the other guy up at 1-10 from near the 50 yard line. A good punt and coverage should back him up to the 35. Big difference in play calling. Huge difference in scoring.
By Bigfoot on Nov 2, 2009 @ 11:08pm
AS FOR DYER I HAVE SEEN HIM PLAY 2 TIMES THIS YEAR HE IS A 5* BY SCOUT BUT IF WE DONT GET HIM WE WILL BE FINE. I LOOK AT THE MITCH MUSTANG THING EVERYONE THOUGHT HE WAS THE ANSWER BUT THE RECRUIT WE REALLY NEEDED WAS D WILLIAMS AND THE TE @ ARKANSAS WHERE THE BEST PLAYERS ON THAT TEAM. I THINK THE HEBER SPRINGS KID IS A BETTER BACK. AND WOULD DYERS #S BE AS GOOD IN A BETTER CLASSIFICATION? THEY PLAY WEAK TEAMS AND HE DOES NOT P[LAY IF HE DONT GET THE BALL NO BLOCKING FOR TAEM MATES JUST STANDS THERE. IF HE DONT COME TO THE HILL WE ARE STILL IN GOOD SHAPE (KNILES DAVIS) IS A STUD.
By Elery Dendy on Nov 3, 2009 @ 8:09am
Whew, thanks to RD for deleting all that crap. At least MRP and Gonzo are somewhat entertaining when they bicker. LOL
By your mom goes to college on Nov 3, 2009 @ 11:43am
BTW, after reading that article on Dyer, nothing has changed. How can you say you’re committed and then say the recruitment will continue and that you will still take visits. Kinda like giving your girlfriend an engagement ring and then saying, “but I’m still going to go out with other women just to see if I can do better.”
As far as I’m concerned, he’s a heavy lean to Auburn and will probably end up there. Which is what he’s been saying all along. Nothing has changed.
By your mom goes to college on Nov 3, 2009 @ 12:04pm
Guys im walking away.
Richard works hard to get inside and up to the minute info on recruits and allows a format for everyone to share an opinion and discuss games, coaches, players, etc. Too many personal attacks on here, myself very much included. People get hammered for a diference in opinion and it gets personal instead of agreeing to disagree in a non abusive format. And its not just one or 2 persons, theres lots of it. I enjoy a good football discussion and enjoy reading others opinions, even if i dont agree. I apologize for my part, when i was attacked i should have just shrugged it off, since no one knows anyone here personally anyway, their remarks shouldnt matter.
At any rate, thanks Richard.
You do a great job on here keeping everyone up to date and in your columns.
I wont post again, and will just keep my opinions to myself, (except for those unfortunate enough to be sitting next to me during a game.)
Richard, thanks again for your hard work, dedication, and tolerance, lol. I will keep reading your columns.
By dpt on Nov 3, 2009 @ 3:04pm
DPT, I hate to see you drop out. The more opinions here the better. I do agree with too many personal attacks. I have not participated in these. They don’t portray the Razorback message very well. And Parents tend to read what is said here. I think the trash talking hurts our recruiting efforts, not helps it. Give it a thought before finalizing your decision.
It takes very little to conduct yourself with dignity and class. The rewards are great. Anyother conduct is self destroying. It has taken me 70 years to learn that. I wish I lnew this lesson in my 30s. I would have saved myself a lot of grief.

I like the way K. Davis has been running lately.
R. Wingo will get better, but right now he’s still dancing a little too much before he hits the hole.
B. Green has improved a lot since the beginning of the season.
Let’s hope they all continue to improve this week in practice.
We really need this game against SC.
By GonzoHog on Nov 4, 2009 @ 4:33am
I like the average yards per carry for those three last game. Green and Davis got a huge chunk at once so their stats are a little misleading. Wingo had a long of 19 with 7.3 ypc on 7 attempts. We’re set for the next few years.
By Daniel M. on Nov 4, 2009 @ 9:26am
Is Michael Dyer still going to announce this Friday morning, or has he pushed date back?
By spahawg79 on Nov 4, 2009 @ 11:12am
I think one of the main reasons we recruited this kid (and a point that I haven’t seen made) is that he is supposed to be a punt returning wunderkind. We all know this has been a glaring weakness with our team the past two years and I LOVE the fact that Bobby P. and Co. seem to go and get what we need rather than just hitting up high profile kids. I have to think that if they wanted to boost recruiting rankings they could go and recruit Offensive Skill players all day and boost their ratings, but I honestly feel they want to fill holes rather than look good in the recruiting rankings.
He is small but if he can read coverage schemes during punt returns and then be a slippery, McCluster-style, return man then I am all for him.
Welcome to Fayetteville, young man!!!
Now, go and get us some studs on the D-Lines and O-Lines…
By Obi-Hog Kenobi on Nov 4, 2009 @ 11:16am
From the sound of the article posted by WPSCHG a couple days ago, it sounds like Dyer’s verbal commitment to Auburn is a forgone conclusion whenever it actually occurs. The more important date is 2/3/2010… lots of time and football between now and then.
Changing subjects, I think we’re going to see another effort from the Hogs like we did in the Auburn game… Hogs quick out of the gate in the first half and SC never able to catch up. Hogs Win 41-17.
tahoe
By tahoehog on Nov 4, 2009 @ 2:25pm
This isn’t Auburn we will be facing. It’s SC with a strong defense.
I just hope we can stay in it to have a chance in the end. We haven’t beat anybody who is any good this year and we have 2 very good teams in SC and LSU left. Also a Miss St. team that has looked good at times.
We have no business getting cocky because we aren’t that good yet ! IMHO
I believe it will be less than a 7 point spread.
By Ron in Germany on Nov 4, 2009 @ 2:34pm
I am going out on the proverbial limb here…I say we will beat South Carolina by 14 points…we are at a point now that things are jelling.
By Razorback Roger in Florida on Nov 4, 2009 @ 2:44pm
I’m going to have to agree with tahoehog on this one.
The Hogs will be well rested and have been able to let their injured heal this past week..
SC will be playing their 2nd straight away game, before heading home to play Florida.
They’re beat up pretty good, worse than us, and now they have 2 more starters out for Saturday, a DE and an OT.
Also, i’d have to say Auburn isn’t exactly a slouch, and Ole Miss caught us the exact same way we’re going to catch SC.
Another thing is, they haven’t played a team quite as explosive as we are yet on the road.
No way they pull out a win in this one. Hogs win by at least a TD.
By GonzoHog on Nov 4, 2009 @ 5:43pm
