This game should be exactly what Arkansas needs to get their swagger back and it could not come at a better time. On DEFENSE the guys must rediscover themselves with good fundamentals and solid gang tackling. The running game has to start showing up, in addition to the short passing game. Hopefully, the Razorbacks can come out of this game healthy and put it on Eastern Michigan, as well. The season really starts today.
Watching the Ole Miss game too. Auburn up 10-7 at half and should be more. They have dropped 3 sure interceptions and the opening kickoff, Auburn knocked Jesse Grande’s dork in the dirt causing a fumble. The Tigers had 3 guys that should have recovered inside the 10 yd line. But they didn’t and Ole Miss drove 96 yds for a score. Second half will be interesting.
dwp, my prediction on the Hogs was almost identical to yours. Hogs 59-13.
I’m not watching the game, but GO AUBURN!!! BTW, whoever made or agreed to the Razorbacks’ open date coming on the heels of week one needs to find something else to do. That is an absolutely horrible place for a bye or open week.
In addition to having to play 11 games thereafter without a break, teams typically improve the most between the first and second game – assuming there to be a second game in the second week.
Hopefully, such a scheduling flaw will not happen again.
I heard the coaches don’t make up the schedules (althought we should consider the source – MrP) but the same idiot that picked Arkansas open date to come on the second week of college football might also have picked Ole Miss’ open date which also is the second week of their season. Go figure. Look for Ole Miss to get tired with no rest coming either.
Here I sit…waiting for the referees to help Florida win the game against Georgia…..sooner or later it is gonna happen… Yeah I am still sore about the stupid refs screwing Arkansas
Qb controversy is over… Wilson can’t handle the huddle …. He’ll be fine but the only times we didn’t score Wilson was qb…. Again I like Wilson….but Mallett is the man right now.
Wilson’s day will come. He still needs to get comfortable under center and that’s pretty obvious. The kid threw some nice balls early, but clearly has some work to do. The play action is STILL killing our defense, although against the reserves, I hope?
We needed this game, and hopefully, the guys are on their way to a nice run. Go Hogs!
Ps. Is there a line in Oxford waiting to get an autographed football from HDN this week? Hehe.. poetic justice was duly served. Go Gus!
Glad to see Adams back!! Knile looks really good! Hate that Smith and DJ were held out… John L. needs to step it up on punt returns! We are very weak there. DWP i agree on the play action…. we’ve been getting burnt by that all year! Hope we can stop Moe Brown next week!!
Yeah Sam settings, we should strive to play top 10 (or 5) teams every week after exhausting our bye week after the first game. That makes sense. Do you smoke crack??
Tyler Wilson is terrible. Beautiful run by Green. Glad to see Joe back and playing well.
OKOFCOURSE, I actually know what I’m talking about. Coaches don’t make the schedules. You may disagree with my OPINIONS, but I know my FACTS. It’s not necessary to stoop to the levels of others on here and take jabs at me. You don’t even know me.
It sure looks like that if you want a touchdown at anytime, all you have to do is send your WRs on Fly/Streak patterns and for the QB to be patient enough for them to clear our CBs. The WRs seem to be wide open by five yards or more. I don’t know if this is a scheme error or a technique error or a combination of the two. Oh, and to garnish it, use some kid of counter backfield action.
Robinson has improved our Defense a like for a couple of weeks, then, last week at Ole Miss and tonight we were burned again and again. Who is coaching the DBs?
Tyler needs playing time. Until he has the responsibility of the game on his shoulders, he will keep making these mental mistakes. More playing time leads to better practices and practice attitudes, which leads to a better perforance on the field.
We have just got to look hard at third down efficiency. Does anyone have all of the games on CDs or DVDs? What are our play calls? Why can’t we convert? Is the distance too far? Did we mess up on 1st and 2nd down? Are we too predictable?
Bigfoot…. I get the defensive comments…. But give it rest with mallett/wilson issue…. Mallett handles the huddle..the checks…playing under center…. Play action….and tonight was throwing the touch passes and deep ball better. Tyler will be good but Mallett is the man plain and simple. I thought a win would stop the nit picking…. 3rd stringers were in during most of the scoring drives…. GASHton is just not an SEC CB…. Remember the first unit had a first half with zero first downs…. Of course if you want to find something to complain about every week I guess complain about the lack of first downs on the last two drives of the first half…. Terrible!
It was great to see Joe back…. We could have used him last week.
I don’t think there’s any pattern that I can see on 3rd downs. As far as being too long – that should not matter as long as it is under 10 yards because it will always happen some time. Maybe Mallet gets nervous when he has only one shot to make 1st down before having to kick. How are his passes on 3rd down (accuracy wise) as compared to 1st and 2nd? Or does he throw shorter faster passes on third down that are dropped more frequently? I think this needs more research.
I think everyone knew this was going to be a get well game and the Hogs came through with a great display of offense. The one thing that bothers me though is we don’t seem to know how to put a team away or finish strong. I realize they were going deep onto the bench for players at certain points but we had starters out there on each of those drives that they scored not to mention the fact that our backup QB should have been able to play better then that against this caliber of team. I’m pleased with the results of the game for the most part, because this is what we are supposed to do in this type of game, but we we still showed areas that need to get worked on going into the rest of this 4 game home stretch.
Great job, offense, defense, and special teams! The only real complaint I could make would be our 2nd and 3rd team secondary players are iffy at best… But it was good for them and Wilson to get some game experience. Even if it was to prove that they needed much improvement. Tyler needs some serious reps in games like this in case Mallett heaven forbid gets knocked out of a game or something… But Petrino can’t afford to put him in in SEC competition because no lead is big enough for our defense right now. It looks to be because of the lack of depth hurting us on defense especially in the secondary. Go HOGS! Beat South Carolina! They will be either mad or dejected after their loss…
I was at the game and we were basically playing a high school team out there last night.
The 42-0 halftime score should suprise no one, but I have to admit, as a team, we basically just quite playing right then, especially on defense.
We were outscored 27-21 in the 2nd half. There’s absolutely no reason for that to ever happen.
I also agree that Tyler Wilson disappointed just a bit. He threw some nice passes out there and 2 of them could have very easily resulted in TDs., but overall, his clock management skills have a lot to be desired (2 delay of game penalties) and he’s still not that comfortable under center. (Tyler, Don’t take one snap out of the shotgun the entire summer, thanks.)
Our defense stunk it up in the 2nd half. The D-line looked terrible with no pass rush at all.
I could understand E. Michigan scoring 1 TD, but 4?
It was good though to see D. Winston in the game. It looks like he won’t be redshirting afterall.
On another note, it’s also good that we were able to rest M. Smith.
He’s going to be very effective against the Gamecocks next week if he can stay healthy.
SC has a pretty good defense this season, so it’s important we execute a balanced offense with a healthy dose of M. Smith.
I’m not all that encouraged about our pass defense right now, going up against SC and a much improved Garcia.
I believe the key to slowing him down will be the D-line keeping pressure on him and making him throw on the run.
He’s a pretty good runner, but SC won’t come into RRS and pull out a win if has to do that all night.
Oh, and one more thing. It seems like we have no talent at kicking a deep ball on KOs. Our kicker actually got it to the 6 on two KOs and the 8 one time. The rest of the time, it was the 12 yard line. That’s terrible consistantsy in the kicking game.
Tejada has proven he’s a weapon in that area. He missed a 50 yard FG last night, but had plenty of distance had it been accurate.
I just don’t understand why we’re not utilizing his powerful leg on KOs. Amazing.
Hey, Mallet is the starting QB. Let that be understood that this is a given. But it is also a given that Wilson is one play from being the numero uno. My comment was not made as a critisism of Wilson, only what it will take for him to improve.
If we have the “film”, we could look at what plays are succesful on 3rd down and what aren’t. What are we calling on 3-1? What are we calling on 3-2 through 3-4? What are we calling on 3-5 to 3-10? What defenses are we facing? Does position on the field influence either the defense or us?
I lived in Milwaukee during the Bart Star/Lombardi years. I remember Lombardi on TV explaining play calling. Inside your own 40 you call plays to get 1st downs, beyond that, you call “scoring plays” on first down, get half of the distance for a fresh 1st down on 2nd down, and make the fresh 1st down on 3rd down. But there will be circumstances that change this.
I never thought I would say this but after sitting through last night’s game, I think the HOgs and ASU should play every year in Little Rock. Split the tickets down the middle. Guaranteed sellout and the 1 win every 10-15 years by ASU would not hurt the hogs. In fact, it could actually grow support for them. Why send $650K out of the state and BTW, way to go Auburn. I got back to the hotel yesterday afternoon before driving to FV and it was wonderful to see the look on HDN’s face as they fell apart.
Congrats to Gus Malzhan. That’s the 1 game I wanted to see him sucseed in this season.
If we can win out the rest of the season, and Ole Miss loses at least one more, I think we can still make it to the Cotton Bowl.
Hey guys, first may i say good job Aub beating ole miss let us realize to Gus it meant the same as Nutt against Ark. did anyone see that Ole Miss had a auction for the Arkansas game ball thats what beating our hogs meant to the Rebs. On another note who besides me is sick of ESPN’S chosen boy Tim Tebow treated like he is a god. First when D-MAC was a soph they said the heisman was lost because he was a soph then the next year they give it to Tebow. Yesterday they said Tebow should get there again because of what he means to his team to me the standard is who does Espn want. I mean if you r not from ND,MICH,TEXAS,USC OR FLORIDA OR OHIO STATE DO YOUR #S HAVE TO BE XTRA AMAGING TO BE THE BEST COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYER? THEN Tebow breaks H. Walkers rushing TD record in SEC should it not come with an * vecause Hwalker did it not only in 3 years but with 10 games per year and did not count bowl games while Tebow has had 4 seasons plus bowls to add to his total.
Big foot u r in the game I like that you must have played at some point. Those things you game plan for . Yes wILSON IS 1 PLAY FROM BEING OUR STARTER would we go shotgun to insure he gets the snap. He is a good player better than he showed last night but can we win with him. Next week is our season S outh Carolina period places us in a better bowl but can’t over look msu in the rock. go hogs
All good points on the Hiesman debacle.
I think it’s pretty fair to say no one is standing out this season on the Hiesman front. The combination of Tebow being more limited this season, McCoy not putting up the numbers he did last season, and Bradford’s unfortunate shoulder injury, have all but made this season’s race seem pretty bland.
All the so-called experts are scurrying around to find a darkhorse candidate.
Their saying the QB at Cincinatti named Pike is the real deal, then they say Mallett is a darkhorse, then they say Clausen at ND.
To be perfectly honest about it, this is what they all deserve.
Thier clown show, so far, has all but went up in flames.
Because Aubarn beat ole miss they’ve moved higher up the SEC West standings. Are you folks paying attention? We don’t need Aubarn to win. They have a better shot at the cotton bowl right now than we do. It would have helped us had ole miss won, but I wouldn’t expect some of you to be able to look past your hate.
As a matter of fact, I have looked at the standings.
Auburn still has to play Georgia in Athens, and they still have to play Alabama at Auburn, which makes very little difference.
There’s a very good chance they lose both of those games.
Also, Ole miss still has to play Tenn. and LSU in Oxford and Miss. St. in an away game, which just happens to a rivalry.
There’s a very good chance they’ll lose 2 of those games as well, meaning, if we win out, there’s a very good chance we go to the Cotton Bowl.
To bad your lust for Houston Nutt minimizes any kind of real, ethical reasoning.
Here’s the deal. If we win our next 3 games, which is likely, we could still lose a very pivitol game against LSU in an away game, which will mean it really doesn’t matter what anybody does, does it?
Also, learn how to spell Auburn. Are you paying attention?
You must not know that all other SEC fans call that school aubarn. It’s actually hilarious YOU of all people would try to correct someone’s spelling. I particularly love schedual and sucseed.
You’re the one that mentioned spelling and no, my favorite school is Arkansas and alabummer fans are the ones that use aubarn more than anyone. You make it so easy. So, so easy.
We could debate about who did what all day long, but it’s really kind of childish to even bring it up. Kind of like using the words alabummer and aubarn.
It sounds like something someone would defend if they belonged to a group called Retards Anonymous.
But hey, what ever floats your boat.
All this talk about speling is redonkuous. We all make speling and grammer mistakes. Two much hatin on this bored.
If Auburn goes 7-5, Ole Miss goes 7-5, and Ark goes 7-5 where does that put us. 3rd, 4th in SEC west? Of course I’m assuming that Alabama and LSU, in no particular order, go 1st and 2nd.
Knile Davis ran hard and hit the hole the way an SEC back has to. Wingo still danced to much and even Broderick Green hit the hole hard. Why did Dennis Johnson return kicks but not play TB? Austin Moss was only in for a couple of plays but he reminded me of a young Caleb Miller with his size, speed, & the way he attacked the play. Wade is a very nice pick up he has the type of offer list everyone is lookin for he looks like Joe Adams with Jarius Wright speed. We have to get Bryan Jones to commit he is a must we also need the JC kid Jonathan Mathis.
What’s really childish is you constantly taking jabs at me and calling me names. I realize this will be hard but try not posting to me or about me.
Ronnie Wingo reminds me of Cedric Cobbs. He needs to learn he’s not the greatest athlete on the field anymore and those jukes and bounces to the outside are gonna get shut down 9 out of 10 times at this level.
Can we as a group get over HDN and Malzahn? Wipe then out of our thoughts and conversations!! Including them in our dialogue in no way helps the Hogs, nor our knowledge of what is going on in the SEC and the recruiting processes.
There was an article that indicated HDN autographed one game ball for a “lucky fan” after the “momentous” victory over the Razorbacks. Not so sure what he will get to sign this week.
It’s possible LSU goes to the Capital One Bowl. Likely, in fact. Bama and Florida will be in BCS games so the Cap1 will take the 3rd best SEC team, LSU. That opens up the Cotton to the next best West team. The Hogs probably need to win out. If Auburn beats UGA, and I think it’s a good chance, they at 8-4 will get the nod over a 7-5 Hogs and Rebels team. If all are 7-5, I’d say we go over those two simply because of our history with the Cotton and the fact that Ole Miss went last year.
We have to root for Georgia to beat Auburn in Athens, and lose to ‘Bama at home, which is likely.
Ole Miss still has Tenn. and LSU at home and Miss. St. away. We should root for them to lose 2 of those as well, which could very well happen.
If we win out and LSU loses to ‘Bama before they play us, (likely) LSU still goes to the Capitol One Bowl with 3 loses, (9-3) we go to the Cotton at 8-4, Auburn and Ole Miss most likely go to either the Liberty or Independence Bowls at 7-5 apiece.
But first things first. We have to beat SC and get on a roll.
I like the fact that Troy’s head coach went public and predicted a win over the Hogs this season. We shouldn’t have to worry about a letdown in that one.
But i’m kinda like you Ron. If we beat SC, i’ll be happy for at least a week.
Let’s just focus on us. Week by week. We can’t “overlook” anybody. We aren’t that good. ALL of the teams on our remaining schedule are CAPABLE of beating us on a given day. We need to play hard, sure up the defense and remain consistent on offense to win this week and every other week…
if we finish 7-5, we’ll be here in Turdville, er… Shreveport prolly, maybe Mempho.
The Chick Fil-A Bowl is a fairly high tier bowl I believe, at least as of late; usually an 8-4 or 9-3 team gets that invite(if I’m not mistaken), but I like the way you think!
For the heck of it, I looked the bowlgame up… interesting read imho.
If Arkansas, Auburn and Ole Miss all finish 7-5, there’s no garantee any of them would go to the Cotton Bowl.
I think Georgia and Tenn. would both be mathmatically still in the hunt.
They’re both 4-4, and have already played each other in Knoxville (Tenn. won, I think) If they both win out, they’re both 8-4.
South Carolina is currently 6-3, and has to win out to finish 9-3.
They have the Hogs away, Florida at home, and Clemson at home.
So basically, what all that means is that the Capitol One and Cotton Bowl races are still wide open.
Our main concern should be to simply win out. If we do that, we’ll have a very high profile win over LSU and a good shot at the Cotton Bowl.
I dont know if everyone realizes CBP is about getting his bench some playing time in these type games;not running up score. He is not like USC,TX,FL,OK who leave starters in until the last 3 mins to impress the poles. This is why EMU was able to score on our 3s & 4sthe game was over after the first drive. He wanted to get DJ and Mallet on the same page but could’nt get it done. H e knows we need DJ to touch the football.written by (SLD)
Collegefootballnews.com has us going to the music city bowl, ole miss going to the independence bowl and aubarn going to the cotton. Way to go aubarn!!!! Good job beating ole miss!!!!
I can’t imagine Auburn going to the Cotton Bowl for financial reasons. The suits down there would prefer Arkansas since we had such a great turnout at the A&M game. We would get the bid if us, Ole Miss, Auburn all wind up 7-5. I’m feeling pretty bold an will say they would take a 7-5 Arkansas versus 8-4 Auburn. The way the economy is right now every school that doesn’t make it to the BCS would be best off if took the bid closest to home. They would be more likely sell their allotment of tickets and improve their sales for next season.
I’d have to disagree, Daniel. I can’t see a 7-5 team going to the Cotton over an 8-4 team. Gonzo is right about the Cotton possibly taking a team from the East. It’s happened before. But one of those East teams will be in the Outback and one likely will be in the Chick-Fil-A. I don’t think the Cotton will take the 4th place East team over the 3rd from the West. The Cotton will take the team with the best record b etween UA, AU and OM. If it’s a two way tie, the winner between those two goes. If it’s a 3way, then I believe the Hogs will go based on our history with the bowl and location. My guess is OM goes 8-4. Auburn will be 8-4 with a win over UGA or Bama. If they get there, they go to Dallas. If not,it’s the Rebs again. Of course the Rebs could shock us all and run the table in which case they’d go Cap1 and LSU goes Cotton. But what if LSU beats Bama…
I think Auburn will go 7-5 losing to Geo. @ Athens and Ala; Ole Miss will go 7-5 losing to Tenn and LSU; and that leaves Georgia going 8-4 losing to Georgia Tech. The big threat, like I wrote, will be Tennessee who could and should win out playing only Memphis, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Kentucky while their 4 losses are to UCLA, Auburn, Florida and Alabama with their conference record being 5-3 while ours would also be 8-4 but 4-4 in conference.
By the way, I liked your comment on Dyer comparing it to getting engaged but continuing to date other women. That is dead on. It looks like e may be trying to keep the door open with Arkansas to “show him the love.”
I think that all things being equal, (record, wins, etc.) the Razorbacks would get an invite to the Cotton Bowl. We have a history there. We have a large fan base there. And Razorback fans that travel love to go there and spend money. For many, it is an opportunity to visit friends and family in the Dallas area.
Now, if our record is not “equal”, those bets are off.
Collegefootballnews.com is doing nothing more than the rest of us are doing right here on this blog. Making a predition and/or predictions.
If the Hogs win out and Ole Miss and Auburn finish 7-5, we would go to the Cotton Bowl before they would. It’s that simple.
Even then, if LSU loses to ‘Bama, they would still go to the Capitol One Bowl with 3 loses.
The BCS’s worst nightmare would be LSU beating ‘Bama in Tuscaloosa before the SEC championship game.
I wonder who the refs will be in that game? Mark Curls’s crew maybe?

Right now watching the Ole Miss game. Ole Miss looks very very good. Snead seems to have his game back, and McCluster is nearly unstoppable.

By Bigfoot on Nov 1, 2009 @ 12:22am
By Scott in Hot Springs on Nov 1, 2009 @ 12:57am
Bigfoot,
I don’t think there’s any pattern that I can see on 3rd downs.
Good question Bigfoot,
J

I think everyone knew this was going to be a get well game and the Hogs came through with a great display of offense. The one thing that bothers me though is we don’t seem to know how to put a team away or finish strong. I realize they were going deep onto the bench for players at certain points but we had starters out there on each of those drives that they scored not to mention the fact that our backup QB should have been able to play better then that against this caliber of team. I’m pleased with the results of the game for the most part, because this is what we are supposed to do in this type of game, but we we still showed areas that need to get worked on going into the rest of this 4 game home stretch.
By DarthHog on Nov 1, 2009 @ 5:12am
By bhamhawg on Nov 1, 2009 @ 6:30am
GO HOGS GO, BABY!!!!!
By GonzoHog on Nov 1, 2009 @ 6:47am
Oh, and one more thing. It seems like we have no talent at kicking a deep ball on KOs. Our kicker actually got it to the 6 on two KOs and the 8 one time. The rest of the time, it was the 12 yard line. That’s terrible consistantsy in the kicking game.
Tejada has proven he’s a weapon in that area. He missed a 50 yard FG last night, but had plenty of distance had it been accurate.
I just don’t understand why we’re not utilizing his powerful leg on KOs. Amazing.
By GonzoHog on Nov 1, 2009 @ 6:57am
By Bigfoot on Nov 1, 2009 @ 7:55am
after that game, I think Arkansas is on its way to a National Championship. what an awesome team
By hogice on Nov 1, 2009 @ 8:22am
I never thought I would say this but after sitting through last night’s game, I think the HOgs and ASU should play every year in Little Rock. Split the tickets down the middle. Guaranteed sellout and the 1 win every 10-15 years by ASU would not hurt the hogs. In fact, it could actually grow support for them. Why send $650K out of the state and BTW, way to go Auburn. I got back to the hotel yesterday afternoon before driving to FV and it was wonderful to see the look on HDN’s face as they fell apart.
By oink2u2 on Nov 1, 2009 @ 9:02am
Congrats to Gus Malzhan. That’s the 1 game I wanted to see him sucseed in this season.
If we can win out the rest of the season, and Ole Miss loses at least one more, I think we can still make it to the Cotton Bowl.
By GonzoHog on Nov 1, 2009 @ 9:23am
By Elery Dendy on Nov 1, 2009 @ 9:41am
Big foot u r in the game I like that you must have played at some point. Those things you game plan for . Yes wILSON IS 1 PLAY FROM BEING OUR STARTER would we go shotgun to insure he gets the snap. He is a good player better than he showed last night but can we win with him. Next week is our season S outh Carolina period places us in a better bowl but can’t over look msu in the rock. go hogs
By Elery Dendy on Nov 1, 2009 @ 9:55am
Elery Dendy,
All good points on the Hiesman debacle.
By GonzoHog on Nov 1, 2009 @ 10:05am
I’m still disappointed. LSU beat Tulane 42-0. Ark should have done at least the same with E. Michigan.
If Ark. plays the way it did last night against S. Carolina, they are going to destroy us using Moe Brown and Ashlon Jeffery.
Sure, bask in the victory of a lower tier team now, but it’s going to be a real football game on saturday.
By Mike on Nov 1, 2009 @ 10:57am
IMO we should base expectations of the starters on the starters’ performance. AKA the first half. JMO
By PhoenixHog on Nov 1, 2009 @ 11:08am
Because Aubarn beat ole miss they’ve moved higher up the SEC West standings. Are you folks paying attention? We don’t need Aubarn to win. They have a better shot at the cotton bowl right now than we do. It would have helped us had ole miss won, but I wouldn’t expect some of you to be able to look past your hate.
By MRPRFCT on Nov 1, 2009 @ 12:07pm
Just take a look at the conference standings.
By MRPRFCT on Nov 1, 2009 @ 12:09pm
By GonzoHog on Nov 1, 2009 @ 12:33pm
You must not know that all other SEC fans call that school aubarn. It’s actually hilarious YOU of all people would try to correct someone’s spelling. I particularly love schedual and sucseed.
By MRPRFCT on Nov 1, 2009 @ 1:19pm
You must be talking about the fans of your favorite school, Ole Miss.
But honestly, do you really think I care about the spelling as much as you do?
By GonzoHog on Nov 1, 2009 @ 1:56pm
You’re the one that mentioned spelling and no, my favorite school is Arkansas and alabummer fans are the ones that use aubarn more than anyone. You make it so easy. So, so easy.
By MRPRFCT on Nov 1, 2009 @ 2:09pm
We could debate about who did what all day long, but it’s really kind of childish to even bring it up. Kind of like using the words alabummer and aubarn.
It sounds like something someone would defend if they belonged to a group called Retards Anonymous.
But hey, what ever floats your boat.
By GonzoHog on Nov 1, 2009 @ 2:17pm
All this talk about speling is redonkuous. We all make speling and grammer mistakes. Two much hatin on this bored.
If Auburn goes 7-5, Ole Miss goes 7-5, and Ark goes 7-5 where does that put us. 3rd, 4th in SEC west? Of course I’m assuming that Alabama and LSU, in no particular order, go 1st and 2nd.
By Mike on Nov 1, 2009 @ 3:10pm
By Big Boi on Nov 1, 2009 @ 3:11pm
Wingo seemed to be a little tentative to me. He’s young. I’m sure when he gets into a groove he’ll be a great threat.
Broderick Green was a little tentative at the beginning of the season. He’s gotten over it, and I’m sure Wingo will also.
By Mike on Nov 1, 2009 @ 3:27pm
But then it’s easy for me sit back and post on this board. Wingo was there, I wasn’t. I didn’t see what he did.
By Mike on Nov 1, 2009 @ 3:32pm
What’s really childish is you constantly taking jabs at me and calling me names. I realize this will be hard but try not posting to me or about me.
Ronnie Wingo reminds me of Cedric Cobbs. He needs to learn he’s not the greatest athlete on the field anymore and those jukes and bounces to the outside are gonna get shut down 9 out of 10 times at this level.
By MRPRFCT on Nov 1, 2009 @ 3:51pm
Seriously, what happens if Auburn, Ole Miss, and Ark go 7-5?
By Mike on Nov 1, 2009 @ 4:38pm
LSU would go to the cotton bowl, ole miss would go to the independence bowl, we’d go to the liberty bowl and aubrun would go to papa john’s I guess.
By MRPRFCT on Nov 1, 2009 @ 4:51pm
Can we as a group get over HDN and Malzahn? Wipe then out of our thoughts and conversations!! Including them in our dialogue in no way helps the Hogs, nor our knowledge of what is going on in the SEC and the recruiting processes.

By your mom goes to college on Nov 2, 2009 @ 12:53am
By GonzoHog on Nov 2, 2009 @ 4:20am
Only an idiot would buy a football for $600.
We’re in a recession. The money could be better spent on something else, like food.
By GonzoHog on Nov 2, 2009 @ 4:26am
My biggest concern is the whole “we need to win out” thing
I know one thing for sure. If we get to 6 wins that will make us bowl eligible. However … It doesn’t meen we will get to go to a bowl game.
If we get past USC with a win I will be happy. For at least a week
By Ron in Germany on Nov 2, 2009 @ 4:35am
I like the fact that Troy’s head coach went public and predicted a win over the Hogs this season. We shouldn’t have to worry about a letdown in that one.
But i’m kinda like you Ron. If we beat SC, i’ll be happy for at least a week.
By GonzoHog on Nov 2, 2009 @ 4:41am
AMEN, Ron in Germany
Let’s just focus on us. Week by week. We can’t “overlook” anybody. We aren’t that good. ALL of the teams on our remaining schedule are CAPABLE of beating us on a given day. We need to play hard, sure up the defense and remain consistent on offense to win this week and every other week…
By bhamhawg on Nov 2, 2009 @ 7:40am
So we beat S. Carolina & Miss. State & Troy, Alabama and Georgia beat Auburn, LSU and Tenn beat Ole Miss gives us a shot at the Cotton Bowl?

By BoutDemHogs on Nov 2, 2009 @ 10:56am

Chick fil a Bowl, possibly, assuming we finish 7-5?

The Chick Fil-A Bowl is a fairly high tier bowl I believe, at least as of late; usually an 8-4 or 9-3 team gets that invite(if I’m not mistaken), but I like the way you think!

By GonzoHog on Nov 2, 2009 @ 6:04pm
I dont know if everyone realizes CBP is about getting his bench some playing time in these type games;not running up score. He is not like USC,TX,FL,OK who leave starters in until the last 3 mins to impress the poles. This is why EMU was able to score on our 3s & 4sthe game was over after the first drive. By Mike on Nov 3, 2009 @ 1:21pm
By Daniel M. on Nov 3, 2009 @ 1:46pm
I think we’ve got an edge on everyone in the West if we win out; the only one I feel will be troublesome is Tennessee if they win out.
By OKOFCOURSE on Nov 3, 2009 @ 2:06pm
By your mom goes to college on Nov 3, 2009 @ 2:42pm
I think Auburn will go 7-5 losing to Geo. @ Athens and Ala; Ole Miss will go 7-5 losing to Tenn and LSU; and that leaves Georgia going 8-4 losing to Georgia Tech. The big threat, like I wrote, will be Tennessee who could and should win out playing only Memphis, Ole Miss, Vanderbilt and Kentucky while their 4 losses are to UCLA, Auburn, Florida and Alabama with their conference record being 5-3 while ours would also be 8-4 but 4-4 in conference.
By OKOFCOURSE on Nov 3, 2009 @ 3:10pm

I think that all things being equal, (record, wins, etc.) the Razorbacks would get an invite to the Cotton Bowl. We have a history there. We have a large fan base there. And Razorback fans that travel love to go there and spend money. For many, it is an opportunity to visit friends and family in the Dallas area.

If the Hogs win out and Ole Miss and Auburn finish 7-5, we would go to the Cotton Bowl before they would. It’s that simple.
Even then, if LSU loses to ‘Bama, they would still go to the Capitol One Bowl with 3 loses.
