Coach’s advice helps SEC aspirant
October 30, 2009 – 6:00 amNavarro College offensive lineman Robert Griffin took the advice of his coach and dropped weight in an effort to be more productive.
“Last year I was weighing 370 and coach told me I would move a lot better if I dropped weight so I dropped about 30 pounds and I’m moving pretty good.” Said Griffin, who’s one of three athletes on the roster Arkansas is recruiting.
Griffin, 6-6, 340, 5.5 has offers from New Mexico, Baylor, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss and others. He and the Razorbacks have mutual interest in one another.
“I want to get into the SEC,” said Griffin, who’s orally committed to Baylor but is still open to other schools. “They’re doing good things. They’re playing well. They have a good quarterback and a good offensive line. I’ve talked to Zhamal Thomas plenty of times and he said he likes it a lot. I’m hoping I get an offer from Arkansas.”
Griffin, who’s very close to his mother, said he’s learned his lesson about his academics.
“I was raised by a wonderful woman,” said Griffin, who reports a 405-pound bench press and 545 squat. “I have to take care of my books. I messed up in high school.”

How interested is Arkansas in Griffin? I haven’t watched any tape on him but he is very big… I guess keeping off the weight is not a problem..?
Good to hear Zhamal Thomas is saying good things about our school to him. Really like that…
