By hognmisseri on Oct 27, 2009 @ 12:14pm
He’s saying he’s going to take a visit to Ark.
By Richard Davenport on Oct 27, 2009 @ 12:28pm
Thanks. I have seen him in person and if he had a better qb he could really put up some numbers. He seems to get good seperation and has a lot of athleticism.

Richard two recruiting questions.
First on football Scout has something about Dyer having his mind made up and announcing soon. Is he going to announce a date? Let us know what you know on that.
Second is a basketball recruiting question. The Razorbacks made the top5 of Tarik Black one of the top 100 and top PF in the 2010 class. Do you have any info on him. Has he visited or will he? We have Wade out of Memphis and are looking recruiting Adonis Thomas one of the top 2011 players in the nation out of Memphis. Just wonder if you could let us know how the perception is right now with all these Memphis players and if things look like they may continue to go well and some real in roads are being forged there.

From what I gather Michael is suppose announce on ESPNU during the broadcast of the LRC-PA game next Friday.
Arkansas has made inroads in Memphis. Getting Mardracus is a big plus. He’s good friends with Tarik. Adonis is really impressed with Arkansas too.
The coaches have done a good job in getting to know the coaches in Memphis. That’s always a must.

Richard, does your gut tell you Dyer will announce Auburn or Arkansas. You do have the option to plead the 5th but then I will just assume that you think he is pulling a surprise and announcing he will be attending Berklee College of Music to pursue his harpsichord career. I know he has always held a deep grudge against those uppity organists who refuse to acknowledge the harpsichord’s influence over the Baroque period.

If Dyer is suppose to announce next friday he is going to Auburn. Wish he could of been a hawg but he wasn`t a must in this class D-line is a must a top RB would be nice since Wingo dances in the hole to much. Richard, Casey Turner from Jacksonville Fl are we wanting he as a RB? and is there any chance to get a pure speed back instead of these SLOW power backs?
By Big Boi on Oct 27, 2009 @ 3:23pm
I don’t think any clear judgement of ronnie wingo’s abilities can be made from his slim body of work thus far.
wingo is going to be an excellent back.
By Razorback56 on Oct 27, 2009 @ 3:26pm
these comments meant to slight players makes me want to vomit. especially freshmen.
By Razorback56 on Oct 27, 2009 @ 3:26pm
What impressed me most about Wingo was in the long run against A&M he continued to accelerate late in the run putting distance between him and the secondary. I know it was later in the game and he was fresh, but it was still impressive. He’ll break out before the year ends. We switch backs so much it’s hard for them to get into a rhythm. On the other hand, nobody has shown great consistency and when they did, they got hurt.
By Daniel M. on Oct 27, 2009 @ 3:32pm
Bad feeling on Dyer.
Hope we get Tarik.

Razorback56 get ready to vomit. I did’t say anything bad about Wingo i just told you what his running style was. He does hit the hole better then Green if that makes you feel better (green runs like a blind girl)Do i need to call someone to hold your hair back Razor56
By Big Boi on Oct 27, 2009 @ 3:59pm
Wingo and Davis will be very good backs with very good speed. Difficult to come in right away as a freshman. Besides we had Smith and Johnson so he chose to bring the freshmen along slowly. That’s the right move. Same goes for Tyler Wilson. After Mallett is done, Wilson will be a very good quarterback. Maybe even better than Mallett. But now is not the right time. Its hard to be patient as fans. But even I have to admit that’s the hand we’ve been dealt.
By Ima Hawg on Oct 27, 2009 @ 4:31pm
Once Davis and Wingo have adjusted to the speed of the game they will both be dominant running backs. They’ll be comparable to Carnell Williams and Ronnie Brown. Not so much McFadden and Jones with their styles, but Wingo and Davis will be able to control games much like they did.

In my opinion, there is a 0% chance that Dyer will commit to Arkansas. I believe that while our staff thought that he was in the bag and while they were looking out of the state for talent Auburn came in and got him. Just go thru all of his interviews online. Auburn, there is no doubt. As a diehard Razorback fan it hurts to lose him, but we will be fine. The success of McFadden and Jones has assured us that we will get the 4*-5* type of backs consistently. We have as much talent and depth at RB as anyone in America. I wish Dyer nothing but the best. The kids need to do what is best for them. I respect that.
By Ya Dizzle on Oct 27, 2009 @ 5:29pm
I hope we’re able to land Tarik Black. I pulled up his profile on Scout’s recruiting site yesterday and liked what I saw.
He’s a power guy, who’s very dominant around the rim at rebounding, blocking shots or scoring.
By GonzoHog on Oct 27, 2009 @ 5:47pm
Not sure where you guys are getting your info but Tarik Black recently narrowed his list to 5 schools and we are not on it. His list is TN, FL, Marquette, Bama, and Memphis. He recently attended Marquette’s midnight madness, is rumored to really like Bama, but a lot of people think he will ultimately end up staying in Memphis.
Tarik will not be a Razorback but Pel and Co. have done an OUTSTANDING job in Memphis recently… I hope this keeps up!!!

Richard,
You have any news or knowledge on the dt from Blinn jc, Jonathan Mathis?
By JDanger on Oct 27, 2009 @ 9:48pm
Ya Dizzle, problem is, hard for me to see how going to Auburn is the best for Dyer. I could see a number of other programs being a better fit. But he will have as much chance to shine in that offense as DJ Williams would with Old Miss.
By Ima Hawg on Oct 27, 2009 @ 10:58pm
I’ll just be glad when he commits, so we can forget about him and move on to someone we can really benefit from.
We’ve still got room for a couple of more DTs and LBs.
By GonzoHog on Oct 28, 2009 @ 4:27am
All that depth and talent at RB and yet our running game (if you want to be generous and call it that) is pathetic. Stay home, Mike.
By MRPRFCT on Oct 28, 2009 @ 8:08am
I hope we get some rather small fast linebackers this time that can stop those small fast backs like McCluster instead of all those 230 lb “McCluster chasers”.
By OKOFCOURSE on Oct 28, 2009 @ 8:16am
or we could just get big fast linebackers who don’t arm tackle and can take on any kind of ball carrier instead of the small fast ones we’re are used to that get run over by every other back on every other team.
i wouldn’t call any LB who starts a big linebacker. even franklin
By Razorback56 on Oct 28, 2009 @ 8:20am
You’re right I would rather have “BIG” “FAST” linebackers too but I don’t see any. The starters we have now are Davis (230), Burton (231) and Jerry Franklin (241). Maybe get some corners next year and bulk them up just a little. The arm tackling seems to be more of a problem with the secondary, well, the line backers as well but they’ve got blockers to deal with and should have “sure tackling” back up. Whatever happened to that linebacker from Alabama who came here running a 4.3 40. I forgot his name; has he graduated?
By OKOFCOURSE on Oct 28, 2009 @ 9:55am
Ryan Powers is his name. Guess there was a reason he was a 2*
By Big Boi on Oct 28, 2009 @ 10:03am
courtney gatson appears to be in the mold our head coach likes.
franklin is a good player now, he is very physical. he will be and all sec caliber linebacker before he leaves.
By Razorback56 on Oct 28, 2009 @ 10:16am
I just hate the probable fact that will most likely finish outside the top 30 in recruiting and around 9th or 10th in the SEC.
Hope I’m wrong.
By Matt on Oct 28, 2009 @ 11:03am
Seems like some folks here, myself included perhaps, have expected too much, too soon of CBP. Fact is that he wasn’t left with a lot of players that truly fit into his offensive schemes and it will likely take 3-5 years or possibly more for him to be able to recruit and develop the type of Arkansas team that he and HawgNation envision going forward. Obviously the same is true with the defense but in that case the question in some people’s mind is also whether Willy Robinson is the right guy for the job… that decision is way beyond the pay grade of anybody posting here so only time will tell but I trust CBP to do what’s best for the program. Either way, IMHO we need to be patient and give CBP and his young men a little breathing room as they work together to rebuild the program from the state it was in when HDN hauled ass to Oxford.
Rome wasn’t build in a day or a year and neither will a legitimate contender for a BCS Champion.
Go Hawgs! WPS!!

The remainder of this season still has promise. They could finish strong and show a big improvement over last season. 7-5 would be good and a bowl win would be a big boost.
Next season it will all come down to the schedule. It appears that it is going to be much better. Many of our toughest games will be at home. However we will have to travel far for some games in conference.
We have a large group of OL on campus from the last class and from the incoming class that could greatly improve our OL. We will have a ton of experienced WRs and some good ones coming in. I hope we land Lucas and Wade from Florida.
We will have a good group of DL coming in which is being added to daily in this recruiting class.
Also we will have a good RB or two from this class come in and the young backs we have now will have gained experience and been in the program longer so I would expect to see big improvement there also.
At QB we will be better because Mallett and Wilson both will be a year further into the program. As well as Mitchell who I thought looked really good every time I have seen him. Hopefully he recovers fully from his injury.
At DB our young class we just brought in should be ready for next season and look like they are going to have to start contributing now with all the injuries we are having there.
I think next season should be pretty good but not Championship material like many were hoping. I think 2011 will be the season for that with the experience this team will have.
The D will be bigger, experienced and better by next year and really by 2011 should see a great unit on the field in all three phases of the game.
By BoutDemHogs on Oct 28, 2009 @ 2:02pm
Once this team starts playing the scheme and technique that the coaches are teaching them consistently and at a high level we will be a force in the league.
By BoutDemHogs on Oct 28, 2009 @ 2:04pm
I love the QB, RB, OL, WR/TE, DB positions, BUT I’m a huge defensive fan and would rather have a great defense than offense. The front 7 is my most favorite, but looks to be our most glaring weakness for the next couple of years. More DD Jones types are badly needed and hope we can pull at least a couple of good quality beefy DTs. Plus mybe a stud MLB or two (6-3, 235~245) types.
