Texas RB keeping options open

One of the top running backs in Texas, Dontae Williams has 10 to 12 scholarship offers, including from Iowa State, Purdue, Colorado State, Houston, Minnesota and Arkansas.
“I’m highly interested in Arkansas,” Williams said. “With me being a running back, I like the way they run the ball. They have a big stadium and a big fan base.”

Williams (5-11, 205, 4.54) of Aldine High in Houston, rushed for 595 yards and 6 touchdowns in eight games last year. He said he’s not close to narrowing his list.

“I’m really not ready to say right now,” said Williams, who reports a 350-pound bench press, 600 squat and 36-inch vertical. “This summer I’m just getting out to different camps and being introduced to new schools. I don’t even have a top three or top five.”

Williams has attended Southern California’s football camp and plans to go to LSU’s this month.  He’s trying to decide when he may make his official visits.

“I’m thinking after the season or during the season,” he said. “I think I would like to go to a few games.”

  1. I heard Bo Mattingly talking on the radio with someone about this kid a couple of days ago.
His stats may not look all that impressive, but according to sources at his school, he played hurt most of last season, playing in only 8 games.
I think someone Bo was talking to on the show said Williams ranks as the 10th best RB in the state of Texas.
Looking over his size, speed, vertical and strength, when healthy, this kid may be pretty good.
