Michigan DL making UA his last summer stop
July 10, 2009 – 6:00 amMichigan defensive lineman Tremondae Branch plans to head south and attend Arkansas’ senior camp July 19.
Branch, 6-1 ½, 280 5.0 of Flint’s Carman-Ainsworth has already been to football camps at Notre Dame, Michigan State, Central Michigan and Bowling Green.
“The schools are telling me they’ve already offered other D-linemen and they’re waiting to see what they’re going to do before they offer me,” Branch said. “It’s a waiting game because not all of the guys will [go with] their school so I’m just waiting.”
Branch, who’s being recruited by linebacker coach Reggie Johnson, recorded 72 tackles, 22 tackles for loss and 7 sacks last season. He displays excellent strength with a 325-pound bench press and 560 squat.
“I was supposed to call the defensive coordinator (Willy Robinson) last week but I’ve been on vacation and I left the paper with the phone number at home.” said Branch, who has been timed at 4.55 seconds in the pro-shuttle.
Branch said Arkansas’ camp will be his last of the summer.

It’s nice to see our recruiting branching out to states like Michigan. This is the first recruit from that state coming to an Arkansas camp that I can remember.

We need DT/NG types. Bring him on down!

hmmm almost 6′2″ kinda short for the SEC defensive line guys.

Being a bowling ball is good for the NG position.

If he is a true NT, his first job is to not let one offensive lineman defeat him on the LOS. He has to draw at least two OLmen. Second, on the run, he must make a pile at his position. The two OLmen and not move him out of the hole. If Branch can do these things, then his height is not a disadvantage.

I would have to say “bowling ball” is the first think I though of when i saw 6′1, 280. Plus 4.5 speed, I would have to think he’s got the body type to put on NT weight and be a quick, thick defensive plug.
I also like seeing another MI kid (DD Jones) being recruited to leave the Northern Cold. If we could pull a couple Big 10 kids out every class, maybe even get into Ohio, I’d have to think we’d be much improved

DD Jones is from LA. He was considering MI you probably just got that confused.

Where are you getting a 4.5 40 from?
By MRPRFCT on Jul 10, 2009 @ 7:57pm
shuttle time, he is a lineman
it is in the aricle, thought you’d make the connection.
And yeah blake, I mixed that one up
By PK on Jul 10, 2009 @ 10:47pm
Oh yea the 4.55 shuttle time. My bad. When it comes to DL, OL, and LB I’m not as concerned with their 40 times as I am with other drills.

we need that size, strenght, and depth if we want to compete in this though SEC conference deep in the season.if we bring Branch , we have a chance to make a run for the SEC title and a BCS bid.

This recruit does not ahven any offers to date per Rivals and shows he ran a 5.87 in the 40 and is under 6′ tall per his stats from the US Army combine earlier this year. Too slow and doesn’t have the physical measurables/size for the SEC.

Sam,
That may be why the coaches want him at camp!
By bigfoot on Jul 14, 2009 @ 11:09pm
He may not have any offers, or the physical measurables, but he was the quickest most explosive DT at the all senior camp bar none.
This could truly be a diamond in the rough for us. Has their been any talk about him since camp?

Sportpoppa, Who were some other standouts from the camp?

I watched the OL and DL most of the day and was impressed by OL Jeremy Burton and Jace Warren, both have the size and good feet to be strong SEC O-Linemen.
on the DL I wass impressed by Tremondae Branch and Calvin Barnett, Both could play DT or NG they both were quick and explosive with excellent technique, I never saw Branch from michigan get beat, I can see him giving teams fits at NG with his size and speed combination.
At DE I didn’t get the young mans name, he was more of the hybrid type, veerry fast off the edge, wore his head shaved. Also Jordan Chrisman from MO has all the physical tools just needs to be coached up, worked at DE and TE.

Thanks for the comment on Jordan Chrisman because he is finally getting the looks he deserves. He is an all around athlete and could potentially be a huge asset to the team. He comes from a huge program in MO that is on track to be state champions. Not someone to overlook.
