  3. Bad news here, but life goes on. I hope this young man can come back from this and perhaps finish his career somewhere else, as well as get his education
On the good news front, I read that Robert Thomas, the D-lineman from Oklahoma, has qualified! With his amazing stength, he might help out this year some. Our interior line is talented but thin.

  4. Thats great news about Thomas he was a beast at the camp last year.

    By Big Boi on Jun 29, 2009 @ 6:27pm

  5. Khiry has also started a couple of fights at practice. I realize that fights will happen, but supposedly he didn’t have the best attitude

    By MooMoo on Jun 29, 2009 @ 7:06pm

  6. It’s always a sad situation when this occurs.
Khiry had a golden opportunity to get a college education for free. How do you mess that up?
His disapline is obviously what’s in question here, and Petrino is no dummy.
If there’s little disapline in the attitude, there’s less knowledge absorbed by the student.
If the lack of disapline isn’t dismissed from the overall equasion, it will serve as a cancer to all.
I hate to see it, but it’s probably for the best.
I wonder if Zhamal Thomas was paying attention to this?

    By GonzoHog on Jun 29, 2009 @ 7:51pm

  7. I agree Gonzo !

I hope CBP can weed out the cancers and build a strong coheasive unit on the hill.

  8. He started the cohesive factor this summer with the kids who made plans to room together. He separated them and placed them with others on the team to get to know their teammates better.

  9. SOUTHARKHOGFAN,

Great news on Robert Thomas…where did you read the information? While not flashy depth in the D-line is (obviously) critical for us next year.

    By RowdyHog on Jun 29, 2009 @ 8:35pm

  10. I read it on the Razors edge on Rivals

    By SOUTHARKHOGFAN on Jun 29, 2009 @ 8:42pm

  11. That is great news, SAHF and RowdyHog.
I’m glad we have both D.D. Jones and Thomas competing for early playing time.
I can’t believe how strong and quik Thomas is for a True Freshman. Amazing.

    By GonzoHog on Jun 29, 2009 @ 8:49pm

  12. So does that free up a scholarship?!?!

If you can’t stay out of trouble frankly I’d rather you weren’t on the team… Free up some room…

    By blu3tick on Jun 29, 2009 @ 9:59pm

  13. Yes, it frees up a scholarship. It will add one more we can sign to this upcoming recruiting class.

  14. southarkhogfan: where did you read about robert thomas being qualified by the ncaa?

    thanks

    By Danny Baker on Jun 29, 2009 @ 11:58pm

  15. I really hate this for the kid as well as for the team. He has a chance to grow up and recognize that self discipline means that you meet obligations and have character values. I doubt that in this day and time the military would let him in.

Years ago the Army would draft just about anyone warm and breathing. You did a lot of KP and ditch digging to help you learn these values.

  16. Attitude and work ethic…these two items are set early in a person’s life. When a student gets to college, it can make or break them. Also, life has a way of refining a person’s attitude. If a student or student athlete takes the approach to learn from mistakes, they are growing and maturing. If they don’t, then later on in life or should I say sooner or later, they pay for not learning. I hope Mr. Battle learns quickly, otherwise his life will go no where.

  17. Danny Baker,

It was on Rivals blog, The razors edge.

  18. Totally unrelated to Battle, but relevant to recruiting. The Razorbacks site posted this today.

Interesting how the basketball team ranked so high even in a terrible year. Also it is amazing how high our football team ranked in this with the rebuilding season and all. These numbers should continue to climb and I believe that recruits that are not able to take an official or unofficial visit to a game should take a look at this and understand the support the Hogs get on top of the great facilities we have. The Basketball team will rise to the top 1 or 2 again very soon in this attendance. I also believe that when you look at the support the baseball team received in attendance at #2 you can see how much the fans will rally behind you.

  19. with our attendance, coaching, and facilities for baseball we ought to be pushing to be one of the top baseball programs in the country.

that’s awesome about football w/ it being such a down year, but stadium size probably has a lot to do w/ that. and i imagine a bowl game had to have helped a lot of teams in their numbers, too.

    By Razorback56 on Jun 30, 2009 @ 11:04am

  20. actually prob not a bowl game.

    By Razorback56 on Jun 30, 2009 @ 11:04am

  21. Concerning Battle’s …. ummmm … Battles. It’s just a shame when something like this happens. These kids need to know what a “Privledge” it is to get a scholarship.
We will move on but somewhere down the road these kids will look back with regret and always wonder “What if”

By Ron in Jordan on Jun 30, 2009 @ 11:16am

  22. is anyone else bored? I am like totally bored…where is the news about the football team???? new recruits expectations etc.
