Recruiting tidbits and stats

Quarterback coach Garrick McGee traveled to Fort Scott Community College last Friday to check on receiver Brandon Kinnie, 6-3, 215, 4.4 and defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul, 6-6, 260, 4.6.

Kinnie said McGee mentioned the possibility of both making official visits to Arkansas in January. He said he may make an unofficial visit to Nebraska on Jan. 28 so he can show his mother around the campus. Kinnie made an official visit to Lincoln earlier this season.

Texarkana, Texas, receiver Cobi Hamilton, 6-3, 200, 4.52 finished the year with 64 receptions for 1,071 yards, 14 touchdowns in 11 games. He said he may visit Kansas on Dec 5-7 and Missouri on Dec. 12-14 but nothing is concrete.

White Hall offensive tackle Brett Craine, 6-6, 295, 5.2 is planning to take official visits to Louisiana Tech, Central Arkansas and Georgia Southern.

Bryant safety Dijon Benton, 6-2, 183, 4.57 said he may take visits to Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech, Baylor and Missouri State.

Helena-West Helena quarterback Deondra Johnson (5-10, 170, 4.5) had 12 carries for 128 yards, 1 touchdown and completed 9 of 16 passes for 154 yards and 2 touchdowns while safety Edwin Goldsberry (6-1, 190, 4.6) had 5 tackles and one interception in the Cougars 34-14 victory over Siloam Springs last Friday.

David Gordon (6-0, 175, 4.4) of  Tulsa East Central will make his official visit Jan. 9-11. That’s the same weekend that running back Ronnie Wingo (6-3, 212, 4.41) of St. Louis high school and defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson (6-4, 270, 4.69) of St. Louis Gateway are scheduled to take their visits.

Junction City linebacker Devin Ball (6-2, 222, 4.69) said he plans to attend the Arkansas-LSU game on Friday. He plans to visit Alabama and Arkansas State.,

Batesville linebacker Weston Fairchild
(6-0, 205, 4.62) is planning visits Arkansas State, Arkansas Tech, Tulsa and possibly Ouachita and Henderson State.

Athlete Eric Bennett (5-10, 175, 4.4) of Tulsa Washington said he received his second scholarship offer from Oklahoma State last Friday. Arkansas was his first offer earlier this year.

Athlete C.J. Crawford (6-2, 200, 4.4) of Huntington, W. Va. Said he didn’t make an official visit to Purdue on Nov. 22 and has no plans for other visits. He made an official visit to Arkansas Oct. 31- Nov. 2.

Pine Bluff Dollarway athlete Jesse Grandy (5-11, 165, 4.44) said on Sunday that he hasn’t scheduled any official visits. He has offers from Arkansas, Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tulsa, Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech and Tulane.

  1. Would like to see the Hogs get both Kinnie and Paul. Having a JC wide receiver ready to complete for playing time and Paul will fill a need.

  2. I agree Jack Flash,
    Paul is a guy who could play right away at DE, and Kinnie is a big WR, who’s got a lot of speed. He, along with Greg Childs getting bigger and stronger, could turn out to be a solid pair of WRs that would be difficult to match up with.
